Trump's Retaliatory Weaponization of Government
After promising not to target his critics, Trump is using the Office of the President to target his critics
Convicted felon Donald Trump, whom you may recall from such Executive Orders as Ending The Weaponization Of The Federal Government — a nonsensical EO aimed at abolishing a thing that didn't exist that Trump made up to explain to gullible suckers and idiots (read: MAGA) why the DOJ kept investigating him for all the crimes he committed — just signed two new Executive Orders targeting two specific individuals: Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor, former appointees from his first term who committed the very serious offenses of either criticizing or disagreeing with the Orange Caligula at some point
Chris Krebs
Krebs was appointed to run Trump's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and was in charge of election security.
The Crime: Following the 2020 election, Krebs publicly stated that, "In every case of which we are aware, these claims [of fraud] either have been unsubstantiated or are technically incoherent.”
He also authorized a joint statement signed by:
The Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council (GCC) Executive Committee
CISA Assistant Director Bob Kolasky
U.S. Election Assistance Commission Chair Benjamin Hovland
National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) President Maggie Toulouse Oliver
National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) President Lori Augino
Escambia County (FL) Supervisor of Elections David Stafford
All members of the Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Council (SCC)
...which read in its entirety:
The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history. Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result.
When states have close elections, many will recount ballots. All of the states with close results in the 2020 presidential race have paper records of each vote, allowing the ability to go back and count each ballot if necessary. This is an added benefit for security and resilience. This process allows for the identification and correction of any mistakes or errors. There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.
Other security measures like pre-election testing, state certification of voting equipment, and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) certification of voting equipment help to build additional confidence in the voting systems used in 2020.
While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too. When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.
All of this proved too factual and accurate and evidence-based and correct for Trump's syphilitic rat brain to abide. He fired Krebs by tweet for expressing such a statement.
As a double-whammy, Krebs also happened to be a key witness for the Jan 6 Committee. Under oath, he described his efforts to rebut conspiracy theories about the election, and stated that "the former president lied to the American people about the security of the 2020 election."
So, Donald Trump signed an Executive Order directing the DOJ to open a criminal investigation into Krebs.
The Executive Order: Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump Addresses Risks from Chris Krebs and Government Censorship
What, exactly, are they investigating?
Well, that is what investigations are for, you idiots–to determine if there's any reason to be doing an investigation in the first place! Everybody knows that.
(But definitely NOT for weaponization!)
MILES TAYLOR
Taylor was a Department of Homeland Security senior official and White House aide.
The Crime: Taylor authored an anonymous op-ed in 2018 for the NY Times titled “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.” The following year, he [anonymously] published A Warning, a first-hand "eyewitness account of the White House chaos, administration instability, and the people working to keep Donald Trump's reckless impulses in check."
(Taylor later revealed his identity prior to the 2020 election)
Trump has declared that since Taylor was writing about "confidential" things (that's debatable), he's "like a traitor" and therefore "guilty of treason." Trump also claimed that Taylor made it all up, so we’re all breathless waiting for Trump to explain how information can be simultaneously made-up and also Top Secret.
The Executive Order: Addressing Risks Associated with an Egregious Leaker and Disseminator of Falsehoods
The EO prompted a tweet from Taylor saying, “I said this would happen. Dissent isn’t unlawful. It certainly isn’t treasonous. America is headed down a dark path. Never has a man so inelegantly proved another man’s point."
With these two Executive Orders, we have a brand-new first in American history: the President of the United States using the power of the office to order the Justice Department to conduct criminal investigations against political opponents who aren’t suspected of any wrongdoing.
Absolutely nobody is the least bit surprised that Trump is proving to be every bit as petty, spiteful, vengeful, and hypocritical as his worst detractors led us to believe.
”They’re weaponizing the government" Mr. Trump?
Every accusation is from his mouth is a confession.
