A deeply sobering and depressing analysis Shane. Here in the UK our government is actively pursuing and wooing Palantir. We are stuck inside a paradox, the only way to escape the techbrocracy is to disengage from social media, online interaction and money! And here we are, merely by sharing our thoughts and anxieties we are feeding the beast!

A paradox indeed. I wish there was a nearby planet we could skip out to.

We can’t trust the data out of Gaza. The whole thing is a FF so they can get rid of the Palestinians, build the Ben Gurion Canal and revamp that priceless coastal real estate.

The parallels between Thiel's vision for Palantir as well as Yarvin's techno-monarchy model are eerily similar to Simon Barry's dystopian Canadian sci-fi TV series that ran 4 seasons from 2012 to 2015. If you do not know about or have not watched this series, you may want to. The behavioral predictive tech that the folks at Palantir want to create is sci-fictitiously employed in the corporation-run techno-police state, and life is not pretty for the non-elite.

Another thought regarding what Thiel, et. al. are trying to accomplish with these social engineering & monitoring tools is to recreate some semblance of societal and behavioral control suggested to have taken place in early human settlements, but with more of an emphasis on behavioral control. Thiel, et. al. want to have all of the societal control (economic, political, law & order, etc.) with the theory that their advanced tech predictive tools will nudge and force people into greater behavioral self-control (because of the 24/7 monitoring) and therefore less social disruption leading to greater social cohesion (however they define that!)
